Recognition

Baba Evans’ work has been recognized by his peers in the writing community with a number of significant awards. Chief among them are the

  • Disilgold, Soul Magazine’s “Most Aspiring Breakthrough Male Author of The Year Award”, and
  • C&B Books Distribution’s “Author of the Year” award.



Additionally and perhaps more importantly, Baba has been honored for his unflinching service to families and children. He has been a constant advocate for literacy and education, a visible and caring activist and a mentor to many. For those efforts, many programs have formally recognized his work and dedication:

  • the Arch Training Center’s Youthbuild Program
  • D.C. Public Schools Head Start Program
  • Falcon Edge Male Task Force, Inc.’s “Trail Blazer Male Involvement” award, and
  • the Greater Washington Urban League’s “Image of Fatherhood Loving Lifting Hands” award.
